Mevlut Erdinc scores twice as Fenerbahce take advantage

ISTANBUL (AA) - Fenerbahce defeated Kirklarelispor in a first-leg match in the Turkish Cup quarterfinals Wednesday.

The Turkish football giants dominated the third tier club before the second leg match next week as striker Mevlut Erdinc scored twice in minutes 43 and 52 in the away match.

Ibrahim Surgulu added another goal for good measure to seal the 3-0 win in minute 57.

Trabzonspor beat Erzurumspor 5-0 at home in their quarterfinals first leg match Tuesday.

If Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor eliminate their opponents, they will meet in the semifinals.

The second legs are scheduled for Feb. 11 - 13.

In other quarterfinals Wednesday, reigning champions, Galatasaray, will face Aytemiz Alanyaspor.

On Thursday, Turkish Super Lig leaders Demir Grup Sivasspor will face Antalyaspor.
