FIFA lifts 9-month suspension of Kenya's football federation
Football Kenya Federation was banned in February after being disbanded by government last November over corruption scandal

NAIROBI, Kenya (AA) – FIFA on Monday lifted the suspension imposed on the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) over state interference following a corruption scandal.
The sport’s world governing body suspended the FKF this February, barring Kenya from participating in international football activities.
The decision was taken after the Kenyan government disbanded the FKF over a corruption scandal and appointed a caretaker committee in November 2021.
The ban was revoked after Kenya’s new Sports Minister Ababu Namwamba reinstated the FKF Executive Committee and the FKF offices were handed back to the association’s elected leadership, according to a FIFA statement.
“Upon the lifting of the suspension, a FIFA-CAF mission will be deployed to Nairobi in order to define the next steps for the FKF,” read the statement.
“The lifting of the suspension of the FKF would take place without prejudice to the ongoing investigations and court proceedings at national level.”
