Football: Besiktas beat Galatasaray in Istanbul derby

ISTANBUL (AA) - Besiktas defeated Galatasaray 1-0 in a derby match in Turkey's top-tier Spor Toto Super Lig on Sunday in Istanbul.

Adem Ljajic of the Black Eagles scored a penalty goal at 17th minute of the match at Besiktas' Vodafone Park Stadium.

The game ended 1-0 as none of the teams managed to score in the second half.

Following the match in week 14, reigning champions Galatasaray and Besiktas have 24 points in the league.

The Istanbul heavyweights met for the 344th time on Sunday after competing for 95 years, in which Galatasaray beat Besiktas 121 times and was defeated 110 times.
