ANKARA (AA) - German football team Hertha Berlin have been placed under a 14-day quarantine after multiple coronavirus cases emerged at the club.
"A further positive Covid-19 test means our team and coaching staff have to go into a 14-day quarantine with immediate effect," Hertha Berlin said, after left back Marvin Plattenhardt tested positive for the virus on Thursday.
The club manager Pal Dardai and his assistant Admir Hamzagic, and Belgian forward Dodi Lukebakio had also tested positive for COVID-19 earlier on Thursday.
All Plattenhardt, Dardai, Hamzagic and Lukebakio were said to be asymptomatic.
The whole Hertha Berlin team will stay in a 14-day quarantine as a local health authority of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf has recommended strict measures to stem the spread of the virus.
Hertha Berlin said the German Football League (DFL) has postponed their upcoming league matches against Mainz, Freiburg and Schalke.
Hertha Berlin are in the 15th position with 26 points in 28 matches in the Bundesliga. They are now feeling the heat of the relegation zone.
The 2020-21 Bundesliga season will end after matchday 34 in late May.
Bayern Munich are currently leading the league with 65 points.
