Football: Nigeria finish third in Africa Cup

ANKARA (AA) - Nigeria beat Tunisia 1-0 late Wednesday to secure third place in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Super Eagles won the match at Cairo’s Al Salam Stadium as Shanghai Greenland Shenhua forward Odion Ighalo scored an early goal to secure the bronze medal for his team.

Ighalo’s goal was one of the few bright moments in an otherwise lackluster match. He was substituted at halftime after an apparent injury to his left leg but was on track to finish as one of the top scorers of the tournament.

The AFCON will end Friday with the final between Senegal and Algeria.
