Football: Results of top 5 European leagues

ISTANBUL (AA) - Continuing to rule their leagues in Europe as the week starts are Barcelona in La Liga, Juventus in Serie A, Borussia Dortmund in Bundesliga, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Ligue 1.

In Spanish football league La Liga, Barcelona defeated Girona 2-0 and won eight matches in a row to stay at the top of the league with 49 points.

Real Madrid beat Espanyol 4-2, while Atletico Madrid defeated Getafe 2-0.

The leader Barcelona are followed by Atletico Madrid with 44 points, trailed by Real Madrid with 39 points and Sevilla with 36.

In Italy's Serie A, leader Juventus -- at the top of the league with 59 points -- defeated Lazio 2-1.

Runner-up Napoli drew Milan 0-0, while Torino beat Inter 1-0.

In Germany's Bundesliga, the leader Borussia Dortmund beat Hannover to reach 48 points while reigning champion Bayern Munich defeated Stuttgart 4-1 to win seven matches in a row, still six points away from top of the league.

In France's Ligue 1, leader PSG beat Rennes 4-1 to tighten its hold at the top of the league with 56 points.

There were no matches in the English Premier League this week due to FA Cup matches. Liverpool is at the top of the league with 60 points, followed by Manchester City with 56 points.
