Football: Week 16 in Turkish league to kick off Friday

ISTANBUL (AA) - Goztepe will play against Bursaspor on Friday to begin Week 16 of Turkey's Spor Toto Super Lig while the leader Medipol Basaksehir will face reigning Galatasaray on Saturday.

Medipol Basaksehir strengthened their position on top of the Turkish football league with 33 points after the rivals Galatasaray, Besiktas and Kasimpasa lost points last week.

Istanbul's Medipol Basaksehir led the league with 33 points, followed by Kasimpasa and Antalyaspor with 26 points each. Besiktas come fourth with 25 points, Yeni Malatyaspor is at the fifth place, Trabzonspor came sixth and reigning champions Galatasaray, the 'Lions', come seventh with the same points each.

The 'Yellow Canaries' are desperate for a win to stay close to the league's top. Currently, Fenerbahce with 14 points stayed in 17th place in the league -- 19 points away from top of the league.

At home, Besiktas will play against Trabzonspor on Sunday while Fenerbahce will face B.B. Erzurumspor at home on Monday in Week 16 of Turkey's Spor Toto Super Lig.
