Ford to reduce EV production, ramp up other models
Michigan-based firm to create nearly 900 new jobs to increase output of SUVs, pickups

ISTANBUL (AA) - American automaker Ford Motor Company announced Friday it will reduce the production of its top-selling electric pickup in the US, F-150 Lightning, to have the optimal balance of production, sales growth and profitability.
The company said it expects continued growth in global electric vehicle (EV) sales this year, but less than previously anticipated, adding it is planning to launch next-generation EVs.
"We are taking advantage of our manufacturing flexibility to offer customers choices while balancing our growth and profitability," Ford President and CEO Jim Farley said in a statement.
Ford was the second highest-selling EV brand last year, while F-150 Lightning's sales were up 55% in 2023, according to the statement.
The Michigan-based company also said it will create nearly 900 new jobs and add a third crew at its Michigan Assembly Plant to increase production of Bronco and Bronco Raptor sport-utility vehicles and the all-new Ranger and Ranger Raptor pickups.
