ISTANBUL (AA) - Formula 1 confirmed on Friday that Mexican driver Sergio Perez's latest COVID-19 test was positive.
A driver for the team Racing Point, Nico Hulkenberg will replace Sergio Perez at the British Grand Prix after the test result.
"I'm excited to get going again with the team at Silverstone. Last weekend, it was a real step into the unknown having been away from the team for a few years -- and driving a car I'd never driven before," Hulkenberg said on the Formula 1 website.
Meanwhile, Perez had been ruled out of the fourth race of the season after his second virus test produced a positive result.
German driver Hulkenberg had replaced virus-sidelined Perez following this incident.
Hulkenberg, 32, started to work with Racing Point in 2011 as a reserve driver, racing from 2014 to 2016 as a regular Top 10 finisher in the drivers' standings.
The fifth race of the 2020 F1 season will kick off Sunday at Silverstone Circuit in the UK.
