French basketball star Victor Wembanyama hit a career-high 50 points in the San Antonio Spurs' 139-130 win against the Washington Wizards in a Wednesday NBA game.
Wembanyama, Spurs forward-center, scored eight three-pointers against the Wizards at San Antonio's Frost Bank Center.
Meanwhile, US guard Jordan Poole had 42 points for the Wizards.
The league has confirmed that Wembanyama, who was 20 years and 314 days old, became the fourth youngest NBA player to score 50 points.
The France star is now trailing behind Brandon Jennings (20 years and 52 days), LeBron James (20 years and 80 days) and Devin Booker (20 years and 145 days).
This season with the Spurs, Wembanyama averaged 22.3 points and 10.2 rebounds. Wembanyama, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft, is spending his second year in NBA.
Wembanyama, who was named the 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year in May, helped France win Olympic silver at the Paris 2024 after hosts Les Bleus lost to the star-studded Team USA 98-87 in August.
The Spurs have 6-6 win/loss record to be in the 10th spot in the NBA Western Conference standings. The Wizards are going 2-8 to be 13th in the East standings.
Wembanyama-led Spurs will host the Los Angeles Lakers in a Friday Emirates NBA Cup game at the Frost Bank Center.
