ANKARA (AA) - Italian businessman Gianluca Ferrero has been officially appointed as the president of Juventus, the club announced Wednesday.
"Following the Shareholders’ Meeting, Juventus held a meeting of the Board of Directors which, among other things, appointed Gianluca Ferrero as Chairman and Maurizio Scanavino (who today ceased to serve as General Manager (“Direttore Generale”)) as Chief Executive Officer," Juventus said in a statement.
Juventus also named its new board of directors.
Ferrero, Fioranna Vittoria Negri, Maurizio Scanavino, Diego Pistone, and Laura Cappiello were appointed as the new directors, and the new board "will remain in office until the date of the Shareholders’ Meeting convened for the approval of the financial statements as at 30 June 2025."
On Nov. 28, 2022, the entire board of Juventus, including the Turin club's ex-chair Andrea Agnelli and vice-president Pavel Nedved, resigned over charges of false accounting.
After the mass exodus, Ferrero, 60, was appointed the new chairman by Exor, the holding company that owns a majority of the club's shares.
During the 2021-2022 season, Juventus posted losses of €254.3 million ($256.95 million), the largest recorded loss in the Italian Serie A history.
Under Agnelli's term (2010-2022), Juventus won nine Italian Serie A titles in a row until the 2019-20 season.
