Gran Canaria defeat Turk Telekom to lift 1st 7DAYS EuroCup title in their history
Spanish side clinches ticket to 2023-24 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season as a winner of EuroCup

ISTANBUL (AA) - Gran Canaria claimed a 71-67 win over Turk Telekom to lift their first 7DAYS EuroCup title in history Wednesday.
John Shurna led the new EuroCup champions with 18 points, followed by A.J. Slaughter with 16, Andrew Albicy with 13 and Nicolas Brussino with 11 points at Gran Canaria Arena.
Tyrique Jones made a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Turkish club, but his effort was not enough to win the trophy.
Axel Bouteille scored 17 points, while Jerian Grant played with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Gran Canaria head coach Jaka Lakovic thanked fans for believing in the team.
"Thank you fans, because it's them and our players who brought us this trophy to Gran Canaria, and it's here to stay forever. They become legends and this is it, a great night. I'm very happy."
Following the victory, Gran Canaria booked a ticket to the 2023-24 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season as a winner of the EuroCup.
Shurna, 33, won the 2022-23 Finals most valuable player (MVP) award.
Meanwhile, Turk Telekom head coach Erdem Can was involved in an accident on the bus, where he hit his head on the windshield due to the driver's error and had to be hospitalized.
Can was found to have serious trauma to his neck as a result of an MRI and had to wear a neck brace while watching the match.
