ATHENS (AA) – Greece on Monday announced its capstone to reopening its borders and its return to normality since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.

"On Wednesday, July 1, we are taking the final step to return to normalcy, as all the country's airports will open for international flights," government spokesman Stelios Petsas told a press briefing

He said after months of lockdowns, Greece is showing the “highest increase in the world in airline ticket booking searches” as a travel destination.

Petsas also spoke about an agreement to support Greek tourism to be signed tomorrow between Tourism Minister Haris Theocharis and tour operator TUI.

“This is a very important agreement that shows that TUI, one of our most important strategic partners, gives priority to our country as a European destination," he said.

In addition to international flights, also back in business are casinos, concerts, conferences, trade fairs, and summer camps.

Greece registered 15 new cases in the last 24 hours and no deaths, bringing the total numbers to 3,390 and 191 deaths.
