Guillaume De Mevius claims victory in 6th stage of Dakar rally

De Mevius from Overdrive Racing team, secures 1st place in car class in time of 4:34:49

ISTANBUL (AA) - Belgian Guillaume De Mevius claimed victory Saturday in the car category and American Ricky Brabec secured first place in the bike class during the sixth stage of the 2025 Dakar Rally.

De Mevius from the Overdrive Racing team, clinched first place in the automobile category in 4 hours, 34 minutes and 49 seconds in the 606-kilometer (376-mile) route between Hail and Al Duwadimi.

De Mevius also secured first place in the car class in a time of 4 hours, 34 minutes, and 49 seconds.

Portuguese driver Joao Ferreira, representing the X-Raid Mini JCW T team, finished second, trailing by 1 minute and 34 seconds. Meanwhile, five-time Dakar Rally champion Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah, also known as Dacia Sandriders, secured third, 2 minutes and one second behind the leader.

In the general classification, South African Henk Lategan (Toyota Gazoo) claimed the top spot in a time of 32 hours, 51 minutes, and 36 seconds, maintaining a lead of seven minutes and 16 seconds over Saudi Arabian Yazeed Al Rajhi (Overdrive).

- Brabec comes first in bike

In the car category, American Ricky Brabec from the Monster Energy Honda team outpaced his rivals to finish in first place in a time of 5 hours and 51 seconds.

Frenchman Adrien Van Beveren (Monster Energy Honda) secured second, trailing by 23 seconds, while Chilean Jose Ignacio Cornejo Florimo (Hero) finished third -- 51 seconds behind the leader.

Australian Daniel Sanders (Red Bull KTM) maintained his top spot in the general classification in a time of 35 hours, 18 minutes and 49 seconds -- 11 minutes and 46 seconds ahead of Spain's Tosha Schareina (Monster Energy Honda).

The seventh stage of the Dakar Rally is scheduled for Sunday on the 481-kilometer track in Al Duwadimi.

The 2025 Dakar Rally will conclude Jan. 17 in Shubaytah.
