Hamas claims to have killed 10 Israeli soldiers in Gaza

GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – The Palestinian resistance group Hamas claimed on Thursday to have killed at least 10 Israeli soldiers east of Gaza City.

The Hamas military wing, the Qassam Brigades, said in a statement that its fighters had detonated an explosive device at a group of Israeli soldiers in the Shejaiya neighborhood.

In separate statements, Hamas said its fighters fired anti-armor shells at seven Israeli tanks and four armored personnel carriers in Shejaiya and Sheikh Radwan neighborhoods in the northern Gaza Strip.

The group said another tank was targeted in the Zaytoun district southeast of Gaza City.

The Israeli army has not yet responded to the claim.

On Wednesday, the Israeli army said that 10 soldiers had been killed in clashes with Palestinian fighters in the northern Gaza Strip.

Israel has bombarded the Gaza Strip from the air and land, imposed a siege, and mounted a ground offensive in retaliation for a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.

At least 18,608 Palestinians have been killed and 50,594 injured in the Israeli onslaught since then, according to Gaza’s health authorities.

The Israeli death toll in the Hamas attack stood at 1,200, while around 139 hostages remained in captivity, according to official figures.
