Injured Ljajic ruled out of Besiktas, Fenerbahce derby

ANKARA (AA) – Besiktas’ Serbian star Adem Ljajic will miss Sunday’s Turkish Super Lig derby against Fenerbahce due to injury.

Ljajic, 29, was left out of the squad after feeling muscle pain in his right calf during Saturday’s training session, Besiktas said in a statement.

The attacking midfielder could not complete the training session and will now undergo tests to ascertain the extent of the injury, the club said.

A former Roma and Inter Milan player, Ljajic has 16 goals and 21 assists in 67 appearances for Besiktas since 2018.

The Serbian international has made six appearances for the club this season.
