ISTANBUL (AA) - Young athletes from Russia and Belarus will be allowed to return to international competition starting Jan. 1, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) said Friday.
"The FIVB Board of Administration took the decision during its meeting last Friday to allow all young volleyball athletes, including those with a Russian and Belarusian passport, to participate in Age Group international and continental events, to ensure that the next generation of young volleyball and beach volleyball players have their fundamental right to participate in international competitions without any political interference," FIVB said in a statement.
It added, however, that the FIVB Board of Administration's decision dated March 1, 2022, regarding the non-participation of the national teams of Russia and Belarus in tournaments will remain in effect.
