Iraqi, Egyptian premiers meet in Baghdad ahead of joint committee meeting

BAGHDAD (AA) – Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani met in Baghdad on Thursday with his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly, according to his office.

The two premiers are set to co-chair a meeting of the Egyptian-Iraqi Joint Higher Committee later in the day.

Sudani and Madbouly will also co-chair an economic forum to boost bilateral cooperation in various sectors.

The Egyptian premier arrived in the Iraqi capital early Thursday for talks with officials there on a host of issues of mutual concern, a Cabinet statement said.

According to Egyptian figures, trade exchange between Egypt and Iraq reached to $703 million in 2023 with an increase of 32%.
