Israel arrests 2 Palestinians after settler guard’s death
Settler guard killed by gunmen at Ariel settlement in West Bank on Friday
By Said Amouri
JERUSALEM (AA) – Israeli forces on Saturday detained two Palestinians for their alleged involvement in a shooting attack in which a settler was killed, according to Israeli media.
A settler guard at the Ariel settlement was killed in gunfire in the occupied West Bank on Friday.
The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation Network (KAN) said the two Palestinians were arrested in the town of Qarawat Bani Hassan near Salfit city in a joint arrest campaign by the army, police and the Shin Bet public security agency.
The broadcaster said weapons used in Friday’s shooting attack were also seized.
Tensions have been running high across Palestinian territories since the beginning of April amid repeated Israeli arrest campaigns in the occupied West Bank and daily settler incursions into the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in East Jerusalem.
