JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army on Monday said it struck a military post for the Syrian regime army in response to projectiles fired from Syrian territory.
In a statement, the Israeli army reported that its artillery had shelled the source of the fire inside Syria and had also struck a post belonging to the Syrian military.
The statement further said that incoming rocket sirens were activated in areas of the Syrian-occupied Golan Heights due to the rocket firing.
The Syrian regime is yet to comment on the incident.
Since Oct. 7, several armed groups in Syria fired rockets toward Israeli areas.
Israel has bombarded the Gaza Strip from the air and land, imposed a siege, and mounted a ground offensive in retaliation for a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
At least 19,453 Palestinians have since been killed and 52,286 injured in the Israeli onslaught, according to Gaza’s health authorities.
The Israeli death toll in the Hamas attack stands at 1,200, while over 130 hostages are still held by the Palestinian group in Gaza, according to official figures.
