Italy beat Netherlands in straight sets in Olympics women's volleyball

Scoring 33 points, Ekaterina Antropova leads Italians to quarterfinals

ISTANBUL (AA) - Italy’s women’s volleyball team claimed a straight-sets victory over the Netherlands in the Pool C of the Paris 2024 Olympics Thursday.

Italy won Game 2 with sets of 29-27, 25-18, 25-19 at South Paris Arena 1.

Ekaterina Antropova of Italy was the highest scorer of the game with 33 points and Nika Daalderop produced 13 points for the Dutch national team.

With the victory, Italy collected six points and are guaranteed in the quarterfinals, as well as second-placed Türkiye.

Italy’s next match will be against Türkiye on Aug. 4 to decide the pool winner.

The top two ranked teams in each pool and the two best third-ranked teams qualify for the quarterfinals.
