Jabeur sweeps Kvitova aside to reach Wimbledon quarterfinals

ANKARA (AA) - Ons Jabeur on Monday swept aside two-time grand slam champion Petra Kvitova to reach the Wimbledon women's singles quarterfinals.

Last year's runner-up eliminated the Czech with 6-0 and 6-3 sets.

In the next round, the Tunisian will face Kazakh player Elena Rybakina.

Jabeur and Rybakina faced off in the 2022 Wimbledon final, where Rybakina won the championship with 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 sets in the Center Court.

Speaking after the game, the 28-year-old said she expects a difficult match ahead.

"I'm probably going for my revenge," she said jokingly. "It was a difficult final last year. (It) is gonna bring a lot of memories. I'm hoping to play like today and you know just get the win."
