ISTANBUL (AA) - Kazakhstan’s Defense Ministry said Thursday that it recorded no violations of its airspace amid reports of unidentified objects flying above the country.
“This phenomenon is similar to the remains of debris from a spacecraft entering the atmosphere or a meteorite stream. As a rule, they all burn up in the dense layers of the atmosphere, before reaching the earth's surface,” it said on Telegram.
It said the situation is under the control of relevant services, and there are no risks to the population.
“We ask citizens to remain calm and not to spread false information. The competent authorities are studying this phenomenon and will provide clarification,” according to the statement.
It noted that the statement was made because of information spreading regarding unidentified objects.
The Kazinform news agency reported that social media users indicated that unidentified objects were seen flying not only above Astana but also in neighboring regions.
