Kremlin cautions against optimistic outlook amid suspension of US support to Kyiv

MOSCOW (AA) - The Kremlin spokesman on Tuesday cautioned against hastily adopting an optimistic outlook following the suspension of Washington's support to Kyiv amid the ongoing Moscow-Kyiv conflict.

"There is no need to rush to put on rose-colored glasses. One should always hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. And we must always be ready to defend our interests," Dmitry Peskov said at a media conference at the Higher School of Economics University in Moscow.

Commenting on the potential shutdown of Starlink terminals in Ukraine, Peskov said Russia’s progress in the conflict does not depend on this.

Starlink, the satellite internet service of US billionaire Elon Musk's SpaceX, has played a critical role in maintaining Ukraine’s communications since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war.

"If Musk turns off his (equipment), they will immediately turn on something else. There are no empty niches in this world. But our guys don’t need shutdowns or pauses, they keep moving forward," Peskov noted.

He also said that in the short term, suspending arms supplies to Ukraine will not have an immediate impact, as large stockpiles have already been delivered.

"So many weapons have been supplied that even if deliveries stop, Ukrainians will still have enough to fight for many months," he added.

About the role of media in modern warfare, Peskov urged journalists and those involved in information warfare to advance alongside the military.

He also noted that Telegram has become Russia’s primary news source but stressed the need to change this trend, arguing that the platform offers "short, superficial, and uncreative information that does not encourage analysis."
