Lakers come from behind to beat Pistons after LeBron James ejected

ANKARA (AA) – LeBron James was ejected from the Los Angeles Lakers’ 121-116 win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night for a blow that left Isaiah Stewart bloodied and in a rage.

With just over nine minutes left in the third quarter, James struck Stewart on the face while jostling for a rebound position on a free throw.

The game was brought to a halt as Stewart, with blood pouring down his face, had to be held back more than once as he tried to have a go at James.

Both players were ejected from the game.

The Lakers, who were down 78-66 at the time of the stoppage, made little of James’ absence to grab their ninth win of the season.

Anthony Davis with 30 points and 10 rebounds and Russell Westbrook with 26 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds were dominant for the Lakers, while Carmelo Anthony came off the bench to score 18 points and Dwight Howard added another 13.

Jerami Grant was the highest scorer for the Pistons with 36 points, followed by Hamidou Diallo with 17 and Frank Jackson at 15.

The Pistons’ poor start to the season has left them with just four wins and 12 losses.

The Golden State Warriors brushed aside the Toronto Raptors 119-104 for a fourth straight win that keeps them comfortable at the top of the Western Conference.

Jordan Poole scored 33 points and Andrew Wiggins racked up 32 to power the Warriors to victory in what was their first fixture at home after four on the road. Steph Curry ended the game with just 12 points.

For the Raptors, Pascal Siakam finished with 21 points and Fred VanVleet had 17 points and seven assists.

The Warriors are now on 15 wins and two losses for the season, while the Raptors have won eight and lost 10.
