Fans left in awe of long-range stunning goal by Argentine captain as it came just 79 seconds into friendly match

ISTANBUL (AA) - Lionel Messi netted the fastest goal in his career just 79 seconds into a friendly match against Australia on Thursday.

Argentina won the exhibition match with the help of Messi and German Pezzella at Beijing Workers' Sports Complex.

In the 2-0 win, Messi fired a classy long-range goal on a penalty arc as Enzo Fernandez assisted him.

Meanwhile, Messi is set to join Major League Soccer club Inter Miami when his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the month.

The 35-year-old captain guided Argentina to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Messi netted seven goals at Qatar 2022 to lead Argentina's World Cup success.
