Liverpool's Joe Gomez undergoes knee surgery

ANKARA (AA) - Liverpool's defender Joe Gomez underwent surgery on his left knee after he suffered an injury during the national team training, the Reds announced on Thursday.

"The centre-back sustained the injury during a training session with the England national team on Wednesday. The issue was isolated to Gomez's tendon, with no damage to any other associated knee ligaments."

Liverpool added that the 23-year-old defender will begin the rehabilitation treatment immediately as he is expected to be rule out for a "significant part" of the season.
