Man who embarked on ‘Environment and Peace Walk’ from France reaches Türkiye

EDIRNE, Türkiye (AA) - Murat Etemoglu, who started his journey on foot from the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris on July 1 to promote awareness of environment protection and peace, has arrived in Türkiye’s northwestern Edirne province.

Etemoglu was hosted by the Edirne Mayor Mustafa Helvacioglu.

Etemoglu said that he started the "Paris to Istanbul Environment and Peace Walk" to honor the memory of his mother, who he lost in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to raise awareness about environmental protection.

Expressing his determination to continue his journey, Etemoglu said that he carried out his environment and peace-oriented trip with a specially prepared cart.

Helvacioglu also expressed his pleasure to host Etemoglu and wished him the best in his meaningful journey.

After a break, Etemoglu continued his journey toward Istanbul.
