Turkish benchmark stock index up at weekly open

DUBAI (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Monday at 8.228,49 points, up by 1.42% or 115.19 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed the last week at 8,113.30 points, down 1.77%, with a daily trading volume of 105.8 billion liras ($3.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.8760 as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT), while the euro/lira rate stood at 29.3920 and a British pound traded for 33.9170 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $90.7 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,922.75.
