Manchester United fans protest against club’s owners

ATHENS (AA) – Manchester United fans staged a protest against the club’s current owners, several fan groups said Monday on their social media accounts.

The protest against the American Glazer family’s ownership of the football club took place outside Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester ahead of a Premier League match against the Wolves.

In videos posted on social media by major fan groups including The 1958 group and The Red Army, the fans are heard chanting “We want Glazers out.”

The fans also displayed banners saying “We Want Glazers Out” and “Sell the Club” and announced that the protests would continue.

In November 2022, the Glazers announced they were considering the sale of the club.

But the family did not accept offers by Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, which were around $6.3 billion.

To the frustration of United fans, who were hoping for new transfers to the team, the situation remains unsolved to this day.
