Matches unveiled in UEFA Europa League playoff preliminary round

First-leg matches will take place on Feb. 13, while second legs are scheduled for Feb. 20

ISTANBUL (AA) - The knockout phase playoff draw of the UEFA Europa League took place on Friday at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland

Turkish team Fenerbahce, which finished 24th in the league standings, will face Anderlecht in the playoff round. Fellow Istanbul club Galatasaray, at 14th place, will take on AZ Alkmaar.

If Galatasaray progresses to the playoffs, they will meet either Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16. If Fenerbahce manages to beat Anderlecht, they will face Olympiakos or Rangers in the same round.

The top eight teams automatically advance to the last 16 of the competition, while the teams at number nine to number 24 in the standings will face off in two-legged playoffs.

The first-leg matches are set to take place on Feb. 13, with the second legs set for Feb. 20.
