Mexico's retail sales rise 5.2% in July, more than estimates

ISTANBUL (AA) – Mexico's retail sales rose 5.2% in July on an annual basis, coming higher than market estimates, according to the country's statistical authority on Thursday.

The market expectation for the figure was to come in at 4.9%, while retail sales in June rose 5.9% year-on-year.

On a monthly basis, retail sales increased 0.2% in July, coming in line with market expectations. Retail sales increased 2.3% in June, compared to the previous month.

At an annual rate, real income increased 5.2%, while total employed personnel gained 1.4% and real average salaries rose 6.9%, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography.

Monthly, real income from the supply of goods and services grew 0.2%, but total employed personnel decreased 0.6%, while real average salaries remained unchanged.
