Nasdaq, S&P 500 finish Tuesday at new record highs

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Nasdaq and the S&P 500 closed Tuesday at new record high levels.

The S&P 500 rose 4.13 points, or 0.07%, to a new all-time high of 5,576.98.

The Nasdaq, meanwhile, gained 25.55 points, or 0.14%, to hit a new record-high of 18,429.29.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, on the other hand, fell 52.82 points, or 0.13%, to end the session at 39,291.97.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 1.05% to 12.50. The 10-year US Treasury yield added 0.66% to 4.294%.

The dollar index added 0.11% to 105.12, while the euro shed 0.06% to $1.0815 against the greenback.

Precious metals were in positive territory, with gold rising 0.3% to $2,365 per ounce and silver increasing 0.2% to $30.81.

Oil prices were down around 0.9%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $84.83 and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $81.63.
