New Orleans Pelicans, Saints 'deeply saddened' over New Year attack
At least 15 people were killed after a man drove his truck into a crowd celebrating New Year in New Orleans

ISTANBUL (AA) — The New Orleans Pelicans and New Orleans Saints on Thursday said they are "deeply saddened" over an incident on New Year's Day, in which a driver sped through pedestrians gathered in New Orleans’ bustling French Quarter district, killing at least 15 people and injuring more than 30 others.
"The New Orleans Pelicans and New Orleans Saints are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred on Bourbon Street early on New Year’s Day. Our hearts go out to all victims and their families during this difficult time, and express our deepest gratitude to the first responders who acted swiftly and bravely on the scene," a joint statement said.
"New Orleans is a city built on resilience, and this heartbreaking event reminds us of the importance of coming together to support one another, to honor those affected, and to work toward healing as a community. In times of tragedy, the New Orleans community has always shown extraordinary courage and compassion, and we are certain that this time will be no different."
Meanwhile, the College Football Playoff quarterfinal between Georgia and Notre Dame, originally set for Wednesday night at the 70,000-seat Superdome, was postponed to Thursday at 2100 GMT.
The FBI is investigating the attack as an act of terrorism.
