ANKARA (AA) - The North Carolina Tar Heels ended the Saint Peter's Peacocks' dream run with 69-49 in the Elite 8-East round on Sunday.
Armando Bacot rallied North Carolina to victory with 20 points and 22 rebounds at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
The Peacocks, the underdogs, gained national recognition after defeating the Kentucky Wildcats and becoming the tenth No. 15 seed in history to upset a No. 2 seed.
They carried on to their "Cinderella story" by defeating the Murray State Racers and making it to the Sweet Sixteen. Then they became the first No. 15 seed in tournament history to advance to the Elite Eight after eliminating the Purdue Boilermakers.
But the story ended as the Tar Heels ended their run in the Elite Eight and made it to the Final Four.
The next Final Four game will be held between two Tobacco Road rivals. The Tar Heels will be against successful head coach Mike Krzyzewski's Duke Blue Devils.
Krzyzewski, who announced his retirement following this season, has five NCAA Championships and 13 NCAA Regional Final Fours throughout his illustrious career.
The other Final Four match-up will be the Villanova Wildcats against the Kansas Jayhawks.
The Final Four games will be held on Saturday, while the National Championship final will be played at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on April 4.
