North Korea ends economic relations with South

Lawmakers approve decree to abolish laws on north-south economic cooperation, special zone for international tours of Mt. Kumgang

ISTANBUL (AA) - North Korean lawmakers approved a decree to abolish economic cooperation with South Korea, state media reported Thursday.

The decision was approved during the 30th plenary meeting Wednesday of the 14th Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, or parliament, of North Korea.

The decree includes abolishing laws on North-South economic cooperation, special zone for international tours of Mt. Kumgang and regulations for its enforcement.

Pyongyang’s move came after it declared Seoul a “primary enemy” amid hostile conditions on the Korean Peninsula.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un suggested last month that Pyongyang would re-define relations with Seoul.
