Paraguay defeat Israel 4-2 in men's football at 2024 Paris Olympics

Paraguay defeated Israel 4-2 in the men's football Group B match at 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday.

Marcelo Fernandez's two goals, in the 25th and 96th minutes, brought victory to Paraguay at Parc des Princes.

The other goals of the winning team were netted by Julio Enciso in the 69th minute and Fabian Balbuena in the 93rd minute.

Omri Gandelman in the 53rd minute and Oscar Gloukh in the 80th minute scored for Israel.

- Fans unfurl 'Genocide Olympics' banner in stands

Some fans unfurled a banner which read "Genocide Olympics" in the stands to protest Israel's ongoing offensive against Palestine.

Several Palestinian flags were also unfurled in the stands.

Earlier this week, the Palestinian Olympic body called on the International Olympic Committee to exclude Israel from the Paris Olympics.

Israel has killed more than 39,000 Palestinians since an Oct. 7 cross-border attack by Hamas. The actions have triggered a humanitarian disaster and an ongoing trial over alleged genocide at the International Court of Justice.
