Phoenix Mercury acquires Turkish player Sevgi Uzun from Dallas Wings in WNBA trade

27-year-old basketballer won 2024 EuroLeague Championship with Fenerbahce

ISTANBUL (AA) - Phoenix Mercury acquired Turkish player Sevgi Uzun from the Dallas Wings in a WNBA trade on Monday.

Mercury general manager Nick U’Ren praised Sevgi Uzun, stating, "Sevgi is a really capable guard who brings both youth and experience, having played professionally in Turkey (Türkiye) for more than a decade."

Uzun played in all 40 games (with 19 starts) during her rookie season with the Dallas Wings in 2024, averaging 4.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 20.5 minutes per game.

She ranked third among rookies in assists per game and sixth in steals per game.

The 27-year-old has played professionally in Türkiye since 2013 and is a member of the Turkish National Team.

The Turkish guard also won the 2024 EuroLeague Championship with Fenerbahce.
