PKK/YPG abducts 2 children in northern Syria, violating international agreements

Opposition Kurdish group raises alarm as terrorists continue to kidnap minors, defying UN accord

TELL ABYAD, Syria (AA) - Two children were kidnapped by the PKK/YPG terror group in northern Syria, residents told Anadolu.

Redor el-Ahmed, spokesperson for the opposition Kurdish group, Independent Kurdish Rabita, told an Anadolu correspondent that the children were abducted Tuesday by terrorists from the Kamishli district of Hasakah.

Ahmed noted that the terror group prevented the children from contacting their families.

The PKK/YPG terror organization often takes abducted children to training camps for armed instruction.

In July, PKK/YPG militants abducted six children from the center of Hasakah, seven from the Kamishli district, four from the Manbij district and one from the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo.

Despite an agreement in June 2019 between the UN and the PKK/YPG on the release of children from the group’s ranks and their non-use in armed conflicts, the terror group continues those activities in violation of international rules.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is its Syrian branch.
