Anadolu Efes beat Valencia Basket in EuroLeague, Spanish club handed 1st loss

Istanbul's team win 77-73 at home

Türkiye's Anadolu Efes beat Valencia Basket 77-73 in a Friday Turkish Airlines EuroLeague game to hand the Spanish team their first loss of the regular season.

Shane Larkin, Anadolu Efes' playmaking guard, scored 15 points to go along with eight rebounds and six assists at Istanbul's Sinan Erdem Sports Hall.

Five Anadolu Efes’ players, including Larkin, ended in double-digits.

French guard Rodrigue Beaubois had 14 points, and Will Clyburn and Darius Thompson racked up 13 points apiece for Anadolu Efes. Tyrique Jones added 10.

Valencia's French center Damien Inglis scored 13 points to lead the visitors. Spanish guard Josep Puerto scored 10 for Valencia.

Tenth-place Anadolu Efes had their second win in four games. In Round 5, Anadolu Efes will visit Greek club Olympiacos at Piraeus' Peace And Friendship Stadium on Oct. 26.

Valencia, who lost in Istanbul, are now fourth in the EuroLeague standings, having a 3-1 record.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are the best two clubs to win all their four games each in the 2023-24 EuroLeague campaign.

In a Round 4 game in Spain, leaders Barcelona hammered Bayern Munich 98-59 at Palau Blaugrana before next week's El Clasico at Real Madrid.

Barcelona will face Real Madrid at Madrid's Wizink Center in the next round on Oct. 26.
