Portuguese attacker Joao Felix joins Chelsea on loan

23-year-old Atletico Madrid forward to play for London club until season end

ANKARA (AA) - Portuguese attacker Joao Felix joins Chelsea on loan, the English Premier League side announced Wednesday.

"Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach their objectives," Felix said, "So I am very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge."

The 23-year-old Atletico Madrid forward will play for the London club until the end of the season and there isn't any buy option clause in the deal, the Spanish La Liga side announced.

Felix has officially extended his contract with Atletico Madrid until June 2027, ahead of the Chelsea loan move, Atletico confirmed.

Felix bagged the 2021 Spanish La Liga title with Atletico Madrid.

The Portuguese also has 4 goals in 28 appearances for the national team and clinched the 2019 UEFA Nations League with them.
