PSV defeat Sparta Rotterdam 3-1 to become champions in Eredivisie

PSV Eindhoven defeated Sparta Rotterdam 3-1 on Sunday to become champions in the 34th and final week of the Dutch 1st Football League (Eredivisie).

In the match played at Sparta Stadium, the guest team PSV led 1-0 with the goal of Croatian midfielder Ivan Perisic in the 27th minute and closed the first half ahead.

In the 49th minute, a penalty in favor of PSV was canceled by the VAR decision, while just 3 minutes later, the hosts Sparta equalized with the goal of Dutch midfielder Gjivai Zechiel.

Dutch striker Luuk de Jong put PSV ahead once again in the 58th minute, while his US teammate Malik Tillman scored the decisive goal in the 84th minute.

PSV won the championship race against Ajax by a narrow 1-point margin, securing their 25th title with 79 points, while Ajax finished second with 78 points.
