ISTANBUL (AA) - The Kremlin on Wednesday said Moscow is focused on developing its ties with Pyongyang in all spheres, including “sensitive ones.”
“We have repeatedly said, and I am ready to repeat it again, that the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) is our very important partner, (and) we are aimed at developing relations in all areas, including sensitive ones,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists in a press briefing.
This came a day after the visiting North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui held talks with her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
Commenting on Putin’s meeting with Choe, Peskov said that the main emphasis of the discussion was about developing bilateral relations.
Peskov further said that the situation on the Korean Peninsula was addressed, while an exchange of views on the “most pressing international affairs” also took place.
Choe also met Lavrov, during which she said frequent talks between Pyongyang and Moscow are further proof that bilateral relations are “vigorously” moving forward.
Moscow has stepped up ties with North Korea since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war nearly two years ago.
