Saint Peter's Peacocks beat Purdue 67-64 to advance Elite Eight in NCAA tournament

ISTANBUL (AA) - Saint Peter's Peacocks have defeated No. 3 seed Purdue 67-64 to become the first 15 seed to qualify for the NCAA men’s tournament.

Saint Peter's guard Daryl Banks III led his team to produce 14 points against Purdue at Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia late Friday.

Clarence Rupert scored 11 points and Doug Edert came off the bench to add 10 points for his team.

The Peacocks' Trevion Williams was the highest scorer of the game, racking up 16 points and eight rebounds.

Zach Edey and Sasha Stefanovic finished with 11 points each for the losing side.

No. 8 the North Carolina Tar Heels claimed a 73-66 win over No. 4 the UCLA Bruins to advance to the Elite Eight.

Scoring 30 points, Caleb Love powered North Carolina past UCLA at Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia.

Armando Bacot posted a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds while Brady Manek helped his team with 13 points and eight rebounds.

A total of four players registered double-digit points for the UCLA Bruins as Jules Bernard led his team with 16 points.

Tyger Campbell produced 15 points, Johnny Juzang scored 14 points, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. finished with 10 points.

With the victory, North Carolina will face Saint Peter’s in the Elite Eight matchup.

Also, first-seeded Kansas eliminated No. 4 seed Providence with a score of 66-61. Tenth-seeded Miami Hurricanes beat 11th-seeded Iowa State 70-56 to earn a berth in the Elite Eight.

Miami and Kansas will face off in the Elite Eight match on Sunday.

In the next stage of March Madness, the Duke Blues Devils will meet the Arkansas Razorbacks while Villanova will play against Houston.
