Salernitana deny Napoli's title celebration by holding on to 1-1 draw

ANKARA (AA) - Salernitana denied Napoli's early Italian Serie A title celebration by holding on to 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Napoli fans were ready to celebrate 2022-23 Serie A championship in week 32, when Mathias Olivera netted for the hosts in the 62nd minute at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

But Salernitana forward Boulaye Dia's equalizer in the 84th minute shut down the hopes of Napoli fans as the game ended 1-1.

Napoli were on the verge of celebrating their first Serie A title since 1990 as runners-up Lazio lost 3-1 to Inter Milan in week 32 game, but their hopes were postponed to next week.

Napoli sit atop of the Serie A standings with 79 points, while Lazio are just behind with 61 points and Juventus placed third with 59 points.
