Severe weather warning issued for southern England
Report warns of hail up to 1 cm, winds 80 kilometers per hour in several areas

ISTANBUL (AA) - A severe weather warning was issued Sunday for parts of southern England, including gusty winds and isolated tornadoes.
A "shortwave trough" will move east-northeast Sunday afternoon and evening, bringing showery rain and potentially strong convective activity, said the UK Tornado and Storm Research Organization.
Small-scale circulations may develop, heightening the risk of localized gusts, hail of up to one centimeter (0.4 inches) in diameter, and occasional cloud-to-ground lightning.
While the exact pattern remains uncertain, it highlighted the risk of gusty winds up to 50 miles per hour (80 kilometers per hour) and isolated tornadoes.
The areas most at risk include southwest, central, and southeast England, the southern Midlands, and parts of East Anglia.
A severe thunderstorm is defined as producing either a tornado, hail of at least 2 centimeters (0.8 inches) in diameter, or non-tornadic winds reaching 55 mph (88.5 kph).
