Sweden's Duplantis breaks his own world record in pole vault

ANKARA (AA) - Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis, a Tokyo 2020 Olympics men's pole vault champion, broke his own world record with a jump of 6.22 meters (20.4 feet) at the All Star Perche in France over the weekend.

"Mondo Duplantis cleared 6.22m to add one centimeter to his own world pole vault record at the All Star Perche, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting, in Clermont-Ferrand on Saturday," sports governing body World Athletics said in a statement.

Duplantis, a 23-year-old Olympic and world champion, broke the men’s pole vault record for a sixth time after his successful jump in Clermont-Ferrand.

The Swedish star previously broke his own world record with a jump of 6.21 meters (20.37 feet) to win gold in the pole vault competition at the World Athletics Championships held in Oregon in 2022.

For his achievements, Duplantis was named the Male World Athlete of the Year in 2020 and 2022.
