Turkey condemns terrorist attacks in Iraq

'We offer our condolences to aggrieved families of our Iraqi brothers,' Turkish Foreign Ministry says

ANKARA (AA) – Turkish Foreign Ministry on Friday condemned the triple suicide bomb attack near the mausoleum of a revered religious figure in Iraq’s Saladin province that left at least 50 people dead and 65 others injured.

Thursday’s attack occurred near the mausoleum of Sayyid Mohammad bin Ali al-Hadi, a son of the 10th imam, a revered figure among Shia Muslims.

“We condemn this heinous act which occurred during the blessed Eid al-Fitr [the three-day holiday that follows the Muslim holy month of Ramadan], a time when our peace and brotherhood should be strengthening,” a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement said.

The statement noted the attack came just days after the July 2 car-bomb attack in Baghdad that claimed the lives of at least 292 people.

“We offer our condolences to the aggrieved families of our Iraqi brothers who lost their lives,” the statement added.
