Turkey, Netherlands, Norway to test fate in World Cup final qualifier round

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey will visit Montenegro in a critical FIFA World Cup qualifying group match on Tuesday, while Norway and the Netherlands will also face off.

German referee Daniel Siebert will officiate the Group G fixture that kicks off at Gradski Stadion Podgorica at 1945GMT.

The Netherlands lead the group with 20 points, while Turkey are in the second spot with 18 on goal difference and Norway are in third with the same points ahead of the final round of matches.

Montenegro are in the fourth spot, having collected 12 points.

Out of three matches with Montenegro, Turkey has won one game whereas the remaining two ended in draws.

The Turkey vs. Montenegro match at Istanbul's Vodafone Park ended a 2-2 draw on Sept. 1.

The Montenegrin team salvaged one point when defender Risto Radunovic bent in a freekick with his left foot to level the score.

On Saturday, Turkey tasted a huge 6-0 victory over Gibraltar, while Montenegro were held to a 2-2 draw against the Netherlands.

Norway will travel to meet the Netherlands at Rotterdam's De Kuip stadium.

Winning six matches, losing one, and drawing in two, the Dutch team are at the top of Group G.

On Saturday, the team conceded twice in the final ten minutes of its match against Montenegro at Podgorica .

The Norwegian team's hopes of advancing for the World Cup tournaments suffered a serious blow when they tasted a 0-0 draw with Latvia.

Norway found a goal with Mohamed Elyounoussi but it was disallowed following a VAR (Video assistant referee) decision for an offside.

With 18 points, they are currently in third place with five wins, a defeat, and three draws.

Group winners will qualify directly for the World Cup, while runner-up teams will fight it out for the final three tickets to next year's tournament.
