Turkey, South Africa aim to foster relations
Turkey's Education Minister Ismet Yilmaz says two counties aim to boost bilateral trade volume to $5 billion
JOHANNESBURG (AA) - Turkey and South Africa aimed to boost the bilateral trade volume to $5 billion in the medium term, said Turkish education minister.
"South African President Jocab Zuma wants to foster relations with Turkey in every sector and he also wants to meet Turkish president," Ismet Yilmaz, the Turkish minister, said at a meeting of Joint Economic Commission in Johannesburg on late Thursday.
"Our aim is to raise it to $3 billion and then to $5 billion in the medium term," Yilmaz added.
He underlined that Turkish educational system is very advanced compared to other countries. He said South Africa wants to benefit from Turkey's experience in education sector.
He stressed that Turkey is getting better in every sector including education.
The minister added that his country would open an educational institution in South Africa to pass on its experience in the field of education.
On Wednesday, Yilmaz officially opened Yunus Emre Institute, a Turkish cultural center in Johannesburg.
